Deploy Protocol Dictionaries

User-level Diameter Dictionaries can be defined to aid functional Diameter testing. For more information on the dsTest base Diameter Dictionary, see Diameter Dictionary.

Custom Diameter dictionary files can be created, modified, and saved in the XML library. The dictionaries are published to the server or exported to the file system using the User Dictionaries tab in the Status and Operations screen.

The User Dictionaries tab displays the local dictionary files for the selected protocol that were found in the client's XML libraries in a table that includes the library path and time stamp for each file. One or more files to be worked with can be selected using Ctrl-click and Shift-click. The tab also displays the files that currently reside in the server's user directory for that protocol in a file download table.

Radio buttons allow different actions to taken:

Enable Dictionary: generates XML for the selected local files and publishes the resulting XML files to the server along with the list of files that informs dsTest which user dictionary files to load. This option can be selected when one or more local files have been selected and the root password has been supplied.

Disable Dictionary: removes the list of files that dsTest uses - dictionary.txt - effectively disabling the dictionary without disturbing the XML files. All files in the directory are removed when the Remove Dictionary Files checkbox is selected. This option can be selected when one or more files reside in the server's user dictionary directory and the root password has been supplied.

Update Dictionary: generates XML for the selected local files and publishes them to the server without the list of files. This option is used to freshen dictionary files after editing and is available under the same conditions as Enable Dictionary.

Export Dictionary: generates XML for the selected local files and publishes them to the client's file system or shared network location with or without the list of files as indicated by the Include File List checkbox. This option can be used to form various dictionary file sets to be used in automated testing. This option can be selected when one or more local files is selected and an export destination has been selected using the Browse... button.

Root permissions are required in the user dictionary directories - the root password must be supplied for all transmit actions when uploading dictionary files. Files with matching file names will be overwritten without warning and 'Publish as User Dictionary' checkbox should always be selected when working with user dictionaries.
